I Survived!

And the only thing that took a beating was my half marathon training and my self confidence!  Couldn’t been worse, right?  I mean, prepping dinner for over 25 people isn’t supposed to be a walk in the park…especially in a tiny kitchen.

On the plus side, everyone got fed and there were no complaints of food poisoning.  I’m hoping it all tasted good but I’m not convinced anyone would tell me if it didn’t.  I also made a whole lotta treats that I KNOW tasted good (including but not limited to):

Christmas Day went well, too.  Despite having to see my mom and deal with the unspoken cloud that hung over the day–said cloud being that this was the first Christmas without my grandfather.  My grandma did well, though,  She cried once, briefly, and we all hugged and we focused on the good things and distracted her with good movies and tasty food.

I spent almost the entirety of Boxing Day sitting on my rear end recovering and trying to erase the snarky comment from my mind.  Well… aside from the 1 hour trip to the gym where I met a run clubber for a few miles.  Today I plan on running 10K, forcing myself back into Glass Slipper Training and, best of all, surpassing my 1,000 miles for 2014 goal.  Following that run, I am headed to the spa for my annual spa date with some really good friends.

Week 51


Colour Code


  • Holiday stress is in full effect…oy! In light of what is coming, I think this week needs to be a cutback week in my mileage to save my sanity.



  • 1.55 miles.
  •  Orange.
  • Broke out the 15 minute rule because I was late getting to the gym, then ran into a few friends at the gym and after chatting, I had no desire to run.



  •  zero.  Had another commitment



  •  zero.  Exhausted.



  • 3.4 miles

  • got stuck on the bad treadmills and something about them makes my calves seize.  Today was no different.



  • zero. No time



  • 8.31 miles miles at a slow for me pace
  • Green, but..
  • very tired from all the prep work on my feet



  •  Nothing.  Too much Christmas Prep

Christmas!!! Holy Crap!

I am SO not prepared for this.  Any of this.

Somehow time has gotten very, very away from me and well, I am only a few days until I’m having my family over for dinner. Eeek!  Where has the time gone!?

Oh and I can’t even bare to think about the fact that my Christmas shopping isn’t done!?!?!  I mean, what does one get their mother when you are quasi estranged and only see each other at Christmas?

In any case, I’m trying not to think about it all too much.  In time, it will all get done…and if not, that is what gift cards are for…or last minute lottery tickets.

Fortunately, I have some time off preceding my big dinner and I hope I am able to get a whole lot of stuff done during that time off. I also hope to sneak in some social time too as all work and no play make Lisa a stressed, angry and sad girl.

On a more positive note, however, I think of Christmases past…how everything always finds a way to get done and well, even if something screws up, family is pretty forgiving and at worst, they can just eat my baked goods as I KNOW i’m good at those….hence my TBT for today–a whole lotta baking shots!!
